São José Rugby estreia neste sábado no Super 12

O São José Rugby estreia no Super 12, o Campeonato Brasileiro de Rugby, neste sábado (4). O primeiro jogo será contra o Clube Atlético de São Paulo, o SPAC, no CT Ange Guimerá, localizado no Campo dos Alemães (região sul), a partir das 15h.
Após ficar com o vice-campeonato da Copa Caipira, o time joseense busca o 11º título do Super 12 e enfrenta, logo na estreia, o maior campeão nacional, o SPAC (13 títulos), que terminou em 10º lugar na última edição do campeonato. Em 2023, São José ficou em 5º lugar.
Regulamento
O Campeonato Brasileiro reúne 12 equipes. Na primeira fase, os clubes são divididos em três grupos regionais, o São José Rugby está no grupo RJ-SP junto com o SPAC, além do Niterói/RJ e o atual campeão brasileiro, Pasteur/SP.
Os dois mais bem colocados de cada grupo avançam para o Hexagonal, em turno único. Por fim, os dois primeiros do Hexagonal disputam a final do Super 12, prevista para o dia 5 de outubro.
Paralelamente, os dois últimos colocados de cada grupo da primeira fase enfrentam as melhores equipes do Torneio de Acesso (segunda divisão) no Qualificatório Super 12 2025. Os dois primeiros colocados de cada grupo do Qualificatório garantem vaga no torneio principal do próximo ano.
Representante feminina
A Seleção Brasileira Feminina está disputando a sétima etapa do Mundial Super Sevens 2023/24 em Singapura e entre as 13 convocadas para a competição, Milena Mariano é a representante do São José Rugby.
Na Classificação Geral, o Brasil ocupa a nona colocação da competição e disputa diretamente com a Grã-Bretanha uma vaga nas quartas de final. Caso, as Yaras, como são conhecidas as atletas do Brasil, alcancem o Top 8, será a melhor colocação brasileira na história do torneio.
