Cícero Lucena apresenta na COP 28 ações de João Pessoa de proteção ao meio ambiente e combate ao aquecimento global
A política de desenvolvimento sustentável e meio ambiente desenvolvida pela Prefeitura de João Pessoa foi exemplo, na manhã deste sábado (02), na 28ª Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Mudanças Climáticas de 2023 (COP28), que acontece em Dubai, nos Emirados Árabes. O prefeito Cícero Lucena foi um dos palestrantes, apresentando ações da Capital paraibana na sessão ‘Liderança Brasileira: Ampliação do Impacto climático por meio do trabalho conjunto’, com o objetivo de mostrar o poder de colaboração de prefeitos e governadores quando atuando de forma integrada em planos nacionais sobre ação climática.
De acordo com a organização da COP 28, a sessão que o gestor da Capital paraibana participou reuniu prefeitos de alto nível e governadores para oferecer percepções tangíveis sobre como a ação climática pode ser acelerada por meio da integração de esforços subnacionais para contribuir com a agenda global de manter viva a meta de 1,5 ºC e criar resiliência. Além de Cícero, participaram, entre outros, o ministro das Cidades, Jader Barbalho Filho, e a governadora de Pernambuco, Raquel Lyra.
Cícero Lucena apresentou o Plano de Ação Climática do programa João Pessoa Sustentável, que tem o objetivo de neutralizar as emissões líquidas de carbono até 2050, medidas de adaptação e resiliência, como o Complexo da Beira Rio e o Parque Linear Jaguaribe, o Programa LED e a renovação da frota de veículos do transporte público, que contribuem para a redução de emissão de gases do efeito estufa (GEE), além de medidas de mitigação, como o Parque Cidade de João Pessoa, Parque Socioambiental do Roger, recuperação das nascentes de rios, os projetos Novas Árvores e Mãe Terra, entre outras ações.
O prefeito Cícero Lucena lidera a comitiva pessoense que participa da COP 28, que está sendo realizada de 30 de novembro até o dia 12 de dezembro. Secretários municipais, como o de Meio Ambiente (Semam), Welison Silveira, e representantes de outras secretarias também participam do evento, que discute as mudanças climáticas e questões ambientais para a construção de protocolos globais de proteção do meio ambiente e combate ao aquecimento global.
