O Vale do Ribeira é um refúgio encantador para visitantes do estado de São Paulo. O maior pedaço contínuo da Mata Atlântica está exatamente no Vale do Ribeira, que conseguiu preservar 23% do total brasileiro. O restante está espalhado em 17 estados.
Registro
Com atraentes roteiros por todo canto, Registro é a maior cidade do Vale do Ribeira, com 60 mil habitantes, e se tornou oficialmente o Marco da Colonização Japonesa no estado de São Paulo por ter sido a primeira localidade a receber imigrantes japoneses interessados em investir em produção própria no estado.
Banhada pelo Rio Ribeira do Iguape, a cidade tem uma história que remonta ao século XVII, conhecida como a ‘Capital do Vale do Ribeira’ e ‘Capital do Chá’ em alusão a um dos seus principais produtos exportados. O local abriga relevantes bens culturais da imigração japonesa que são preservados pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan).
São eles: sede da Kaigai Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, antigas fábricas de chá e residências de primeiros colonos japoneses, as Igrejas Episcopal Anglicana e de São Francisco Xavier, além das primeiras mudas de chá do tipo assam.
Juquiá
O município de Juquiá conta com 17.154 habitantes e dispõe de muitos atrativos turísticos, como pousadas, hotéis fazenda, pesqueiros e um turismo variado (Religioso, de Aventura e Ecológico). E o Gastronômico, por exemplo, oferece a oportunidade de provar os pratos típicos da culinária local, como a Galinhada, o Risoto de Pupunha, a Tilápia Frita, o Pastel de Pupunha e a Moqueca de Pupunha. Gosto para todos os paladares. Já os praticantes de Turismo de Aventura encontram rios e cachoeiras propícios para canoagem e rafting. Pelo Ecoturismo e Turismo Ecológico, o turista tem a possibilidade de praticar cavalgada, tirolesa, passeios a pé, boia cross e cicloturismo em vários locais da cidade.
Iporanga
Trata-se de um destino turístico com 4.046 habitantes e localizado a 304 km da capital, cercado por unidades de conservação ambientais, com destaque para o Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Ribeira – Petar, que conta com cerca de 36 mil hectares e abriga um valioso patrimônio natural composto por sítios espeleológicos, paleontológicos, arqueológicos e históricos, além da grande diversidade biológica característica da Mata Atlântica e preservada por toda sua extensão.
Situada às margens do rio Ribeira de Iguape e na foz do Ribeirão Iporanga, é conhecida como “Capital das Cavernas” pela grande incidência de cavernas calcárias na área do município. São cerca de 360 cavernas catalogadas. O Turismo de Aventura e o Ecoturismo são as marcas da cidade.
Eldorado
Eldorado é o destino que costuma receber visitantes principalmente voltados ao Ecoturismo e o Turismo de Aventura. As pousadas da cidade oferecem serviço de Turismo Receptivo e costumam levar os visitantes ao Parque Estadual da Caverna do Diabo, a quilombos como o de Ivaporunduva e à Cachoeira do Meu Deus.
Em Eldorado não é permitido fazer nenhum passeio sem o acompanhamento de um guia local, e graças ao trabalho do Turismo Receptivo é possível que o visitante aprenda muito sobre a região e conheça o que ela tem de melhor. Uma das atrações é a Caverna do Diabo, com cerca de 6,5 mil metros de extensão, mas apenas com 700 metros permitidos para visitação, sempre com guia. Conhecida por muitos como a Oitava Maravilha do Mundo, a maior caverna do estado de São Paulo tem salões fantásticos e a estrutura recebe visitantes de todas as idades.
Apiaí
Uma das maiores cidades do Alto Vale do Ribeira, Apiaí tem 24.585 habitantes e fica a 322 km da capital. O município atrai muitos visitantes pela topografia acidentada com declives e planaltos, grutas e cachoeiras, rodeados pela maior área remanescente de Mata Atlântica do país. Sua região é declarada pela Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (Unesco) como Reserva da Biosfera do Patrimônio Mundial e, por isso, é chamada de “O Portal da Mata Atlântica”.
Apiaí é uma das portas de entrada para o Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Vale do Ribeira (Petar), que recebe 42 mil pessoas anualmente, onde há rios, cachoeiras, 474 cavernas, biodiversidade e esportes radicais em meio à Mata Atlântica para fazer a alegria de todos os visitantes. Já na cidade, os turistas podem contar com hotéis, pousadas, restaurantes e opções de compras de peças artesanais e comidas típicas da região.
Iguape
A cidade de Iguape, com 29.115 habitantes e distante 204 km da capital, que um dia foi vila e sede da primeira fundação de ouro do Brasil no século XVII, hoje é uma Estância Turística. Quando o turista chega ao perímetro urbano iguapense e alcança o centro histórico, com a Igreja Matriz e os casarões preservados, mal imagina que se trata do município com maior área territorial do estado (tem 1.980.916 km²).
Há praias, morros, recantos e mistérios que estão prontos para serem desvendados pelo visitante. Não é à toa que Iguape é chamada de “A Princesa do Litoral”. Famosa é a Festa do Senhor Bom Jesus de Iguape, onde a culinária, a tradição caiçara e a religiosidade se fundem, e que chega a receber 200 mil turistas e romeiros todos os anos, nessa que é uma das mais antigas tradições religiosas do país. Interessante visitar o Mercado de Artesanato e Cultura, situado na outra ponta da Praça Matriz de Iguape que possui artefatos, brinquedos e lembranças com tradição caiçara, além uma planta baixa da região, de como ela era nos tempos coloniais.
Ilha Comprida
Uma cidade nascida para ser fotografada: assim é Ilha Comprida, com 13.419 habitantes e distante 208 km da capital. Seja ao embarcar no Complexo Turístico da Orla do Mar Pequeno José Abdelnur Abraão Filho, Antigo Porto da Balsa, seja do alto das dunas de Juruvaúva, com até 10 metros de altura, seja na mansidão caiçara da Vila de Pedrinhas, a Estância Turística preserva cenários ainda intocados pela presença humana.
A estrutura do Complexo da Orla engloba Mirante, restaurantes com gastronomia local, loja de artesanato, Sala de Memória e Museu do Mar, Escola Náutica Municipal, Pier para Pesca, rampas para acessibilidade, entre outros. Não é à toa que tem esse nome, porque tem 74 km de litoral dividido em diversas praias. Ilha Comprida tem boa oferta de pousadas e há hospedagem para todos os gostos e bolsos, uma vez que o destino é muito procurado em qualquer época do ano. Motivos não faltam, seja para descanso, Turismo de Aventura ou Ecoturismo.
Em suma, 100% do seu território – com as praias, mangues, sítios arqueológicos, matas, dunas e espécies raras de aves – está incluído em Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA). Passeio imperdível: Vila de Pedrinhas, onde é possível fazer passeios e pesca com barcos pelo Mar Pequeno. Pedrinhas é sede da Festança Caiçara que é realizada em outubro, mês de aniversário da cidade que oferece shows, gastronomia, esportes e danças.

Júnior Petar, que tem profundo conhecimento do Vale do Ribeira, aponta para as trilhas de observação de aves, observação dos primatas e os incríveis Cogumelos Bioluminescentes que só existem nos parques naturais. “A cada passo o visitante que vem para nossa região é convidado a se conectar cada vez mais com a natureza. Fábio Torquato, técnico da Coordenadoria de Turismo da Setur-SP, descreve o Vale do Ribeira como um destino incrível com atrativos naturais para os mais diferentes públicos. “Tive a oportunidade de acompanhar, recentemente, três operadores de turismo da Holanda, China e Argentina, que assim como os visitantes paulistas e brasileiros, ficaram maravilhados com tudo que viram e empolgados em oferecer a região para seus clientes. Partindo de São Paulo, os primeiros caminhos da Mata Atlântica, ao descer pela Serra do Cafezal, são de tirar o fôlego”, revela Fábio.
“Na região das cavernas, a natureza é generosa não só pelos caminhos subterrâneos, mas também nas trilhas, cachoeiras e atividades de Turismo de Aventura nos rios que correm para o Ribeira, como o Betary e o Turvo. Seguindo o Ribeira em direção ao mar, os atrativos naturais se unem aos histórico-culturais do Lagamar em Iguape, Ilha Comprida e Cananéia.
