UTI Pediátrica tem 9 meses de índice zero em infecção hospitalar

A UTI Pediátrica do Hospital Municipal completou em março um período de 9 meses com índice zero de um tipo de infecção, que atinge principalmente pacientes de unidades de terapia intensiva.
Há 9 meses nenhum paciente da UTI Pediátrica adquiriu infecção de corrente sanguínea, que é provocada por uso de dispositivos (como catéter, por exemplo). O risco está na manipulação desses dispositivos, principalmente para administrar medicação ao paciente.
O índice zero – que foi alcançado pela primeira vez em julho do ano passado – é resultado de uma ofensiva travada pelas equipes do hospital, que começou no ano passado com uma espécie de auditoria para diagnosticar possíveis problemas e traçar um programa para reduzir os riscos.
“Foram feitos treinamentos de todos os protocolos necessários, desde procedimentos básicos como higienização das mãos, reforço nas técnicas para curativos, reforço na desinfecção dos equipamentos, entre outras medidas”, afirmou a enfermeira Mábel Aparecida Gomes dos Santos, do Serviço de Controle de Infecção Hospitalar do HM.

A informação sobre o índice zerado de infecção hospitalar há 9 meses trouxe alívio para mães de crianças internadas na UTI. “Traz segurança pra nós. Dentro de um hospital, o risco de infecção é o maior medo da gente”, disse Laura Siqueira.
“As crianças ficam muito vulneráveis e saber que não há risco de infecção no momento é um alívio”, afirmou Janaína Aparecida Bombino. Fernanda Moraes de Souza disse que as mães também ficam vulneráveis e com o emocional abalado com um filho doente. “Essa informação acalma e fortalece as mães”.
Para a pediatra Carolina Scarpa, coordenadora da Pediatria do hospital da Vila, é um resultado maravilhoso. “Quem ganha são os pacientes. A redução drástica desse tipo de infecção evita a permanência maior de uma criança no hospital e reduz a mortalidade”, disse.
Balanço
Segundo a infectologista Jackeline Coutinho Neves Máximo, coordenadora do Serviço de Controle de Infecção Hospitalar, houve queda dos índices de infecção de corrente sanguínea em vários setores do hospital, caso da UTI adulto, que teve redução dos riscos em 77% nos últimos seis anos.
“Nosso trabalho é prevenir infecção adquirida dentro do hospital. É um trabalho constante, incansável e árduo. Mas estamos conseguindo bons resultados no Hospital Municipal e isso é extremamente gratificante”, afirmou a médica.
O Hospital Municipal é mantido pela Prefeitura de São José dos Campos e gerenciado pela SPDM (Associação Paulista para o Desenvolvimento da Medicina).
