A Prefeitura de João Pessoa, por meio da Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente (Semam), reforçou seu compromisso com os animais ao entregar, nesta semana, um total de três toneladas de ração, beneficiando cerca de 150 protetores. Esta iniciativa, integrante do Programa Banco de Ração, visa garantir suporte aos cuidadores dos animais.
O secretário do Meio Ambiente, Welison Silveira, enfatizou o compromisso da gestão em expandir ainda mais o programa, destacando a tramitação de um processo licitatório para a aquisição de mais 22 toneladas de ração, representando um investimento significativo de R$ 252.184. “Além do aumento quantitativo do programa, estamos implementando uma expansão digital, permitindo que os protetores se cadastrem através do aplicativo João Pessoa na Palma da Mão. Esta medida visa tornar o acesso aos recursos mais eficiente e acessível, fortalecendo nossa parceria com aqueles que dedicam suas vidas a cuidar dos animais em nossa cidade”, explicou.
Com a entrega das três toneladas de ração, ocorrida nesta quinta-feira, somadas às duas toneladas disponibilizadas em 2022, o programa já beneficiou aproximadamente 400 protetores e distribuiu cerca de 5 toneladas de alimento para os animais. Esse esforço conjunto representa um investimento total de R$ 125.047, demonstrando o comprometimento da gestão municipal com a causa animal. O montante investido no programa foi resultado de emendas dos vereadores Guga (R$ 75 mil) e Damásio Franca (R$ 45 mil) e de recursos próprios da Semam.
O Programa Banco de Ração, idealizado pelo vereador Damásio Franca em 2018 e instituído pelo prefeito Cícero Lucena em 2022, é um marco no apoio aos protetores de animais na cidade.
