Agência Minas Gerais | Pesquisas da Epamig sobre cultivar de trigo para silagem apresentam resultados promissores
Estudos conduzidos pela Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (Epamig) revelam que a silagem à base da cultivar de trigo MGS3 Brilhante se apresenta como alternativa viável, nutritiva e econômica durante o período de inverno, com resultados promissores no que diz respeito à produtividade, qualidade da silagem e desempenho zootécnico dos animais avaliados.
A MGS3 Brilhante foi lançada pela Epamig em 2005, originalmente com a finalidade de ser recomendada para a produção de pães. Em 2018, pesquisadores da empresa descobriram que a cultivar era ideal para a produção de silagem, por conta de sua resistência à seca e ao calor, e, principalmente, pelo fato de suas espigas não possuírem aristas, estruturas que causam pequenos ferimentos no rúmen dos bovinos.
As pesquisas estão sendo conduzidas nos Campos Experimentais da Epamig nos municípios de Patos de Minas, Prudente de Morais, Felixlândia e Uberaba, e também em Unidades Demonstrativas (UDs) implantadas, no ano passado, em propriedades rurais nas regiões mineiras do Sul, Sudoeste e Campo das Vertentes. O trabalho é realizado em parceria com a Empresa de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural do estado (Emater-MG), que auxilia na identificação dos produtores para implantação das lavouras experimentais.
Os pesquisadores observaram que a produtividade da forragem foi altamente satisfatória. “Todas as nossas expectativas estão sendo confirmadas. O produtor pode produzir uma forragem de ótima qualidade nutricional para os animais e com boa produtividade em um período de entressafras de culturas de verão, como milho e soja, que costuma ser uma época em que a lavoura fica parada”, explica o pesquisador da Epamig, e coordenador do projeto “Unidades Demonstrativas de Trigo para Produção de Silagem”, Maurício Coelho. O trabalho tem apoio financeiro da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais (Fapemig).
Para o mês de março, a ideia é expandir o número de Unidades Demonstrativas pelo estado de Minas Gerais, agora nas regiões Central, Norte e Zona da Mata. “Queremos levar essa tecnologia ao maior número de produtores possível, pois assim, eles também se tornam multiplicadores e podem repassar sementes a vizinhos e pecuaristas de suas respectivas regiões”, antecipa o pesquisador da Epamig.
Outro ponto da pesquisa que está em desenvolvimento são os testes envolvendo rebanhos leiteiros com animais que se alimentem da silagem à base de trigo. “Já estamos sendo procurados por produtores de leite mineiros e também de outros estados, como Mato Grosso, São Paulo e do Sul do país”, comenta Maurício. “Estamos em fase inicial, porém com as mesmas expectativas positivas que tivemos para o gado de corte. Vamos conduzir esses experimentos nos Campos Experimentais de Felixlândia e Uberaba, onde há atualmente estruturas com balanças e cochos automatizados, que fazem pesagens eletrônicas e auxiliam nas medições”, relata Maurício.
Silagem de trigo dispensa inoculação microbiana
Além dos aspectos agronômicos do trigo MGS3 Brilhante, o projeto também estuda o uso de inoculantes microbianos, compostos por microrganismos, para definir se auxiliam ou não na conservação da qualidade do alimento durante o processo de ensilagem.
Quando o oxigênio é retirado do material, ocorre um processo de fermentação feito por bactérias. Os inoculantes microbianos auxiliam nesse processo de fermentação, fazendo com que haja menos perda de nutrientes, por exemplo, por meio da acidificação do material.
“Os experimentos que fizemos revelam que, se o manejo e o ponto de colheita da lavoura de trigo MGS3 Brilhante forem feitos corretamente, com vedação e compactação ideais, não há necessidade de se introduzir inoculantes microbianos, porque é um material ótimo para ser ensilado”, ressalta a pesquisadora da Epamig, Fernanda de Kássia Gomes. “Verificamos que não houve alteração na qualidade da silagem produzida, o que torna o trigo uma opção ainda mais barata e viável”, acrescenta.
Segundo ela, foram avaliados dois tempos de estocagem do material (45 e 60 dias) e que o próximo passo da pesquisa é testar intervalos mais longos até a abertura da silagem, chegando a 240 dias.
