Agência Minas Gerais | Minas Gerais e Estados Unidos reafirmam parceria que fomenta o intercâmbio e o desenvolvimento do estado
O governador Romeu Zema, o secretário-chefe de Estado de Casa Civil, Marcelo Aro, e a embaixadora dos Estados Unidos no Brasil, Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, assinaram, nesta quarta-feira (6/12), um novo Memorando de Entendimento entre o Estado de Minas Gerais e os Estados Unidos da América (EUA).
A solenidade do memorando firmado entre o Governo de Minas e o Escritório de Representação dos Estados Unidos da América aconteceu no Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG) e contou, também, com a participação de outras autoridades.
“Reforço aqui que podemos fazer muito em conjunto na área da saúde, da segurança pública, da educação. Já somos grandes parceiros comerciais, mas muito ainda pode ser feito”, destacou o governador Romeu Zema.
Um memorando entre as partes já foi assinado em março de 2022, com vigência até dezembro de 2022. Agora, essa parceria será renovada com um novo memorando que tem vigência até dezembro de 2026.
“Minha visita a Belo Horizonte é para continuar a parceria com o Governo de Minas Gerais através deste memorando de entendimento, seja por meio de parcerias com instituições de ensino superior para o ensino de inglês, parcerias comerciais com empresas e governos locais ou através de programas e intercâmbios culturais, temos trabalhado arduamente para trazer mais oportunidades aos mineiros”, explicou a embaixadora.
O memorando tem como objetivo reafirmar a relação de cooperação, delineando novas perspectivas nas áreas de educação, saúde, ciência, tecnologia, meio ambiente, energia sustentável, segurança pública, comércio e investimentos.
“Esse memorando tem como objetivo principal reafirmar o laço de parceria entre Minas Gerais e os Estados Unidos. Mas, obviamente, nós queremos muito mais do que um documento assinado. Nós queremos benefícios para a população mineira. Nós apresentamos também um plano de trabalho, no qual todas as secretarias de Estado de Minas Gerais contribuíram. Então, todas as áreas, nós temos uma proposta de parceria”, detalhou o secretário Marcelo Aro.

Os Estados Unidos mantêm uma relação de parceria com Minas desde 2003. Além disso, o país é o segundo principal parceiro comercial do estado. No último ano, o país foi responsável por 10,2% do total exportado pelo estado e 13,1% das importações mineiras.
Em 2022, Minas foi o 3º maior estado exportador para os EUA, responsável por 11% das exportações brasileiras, totalizando US$ 4,1 bilhões de produtos exportados.
Nas importações, Minas foi o 6º maior estado importador dos EUA, responsável por 5% das importações brasileiras, totalizando US$ 2,3 bilhões.
Entre 2018 e 2022 foram atraídos 15 projetos de empresas dos Estados Unidos, totalizando um investimento de R$ 26,2 bilhões que gerou mais de 15 mil empregos diretos.
