Agência Minas Gerais | Reconhecida em 2020 pelo Governo de Minas, Mantiqueira foi a maior medalhista no Concurso Internacional da ExpoQueijo 2023
A Mantiqueira de Minas, caracterizada em 2020 pelo Governo de Minas como produtora de Queijo Artesanal, foi a região de maior destaque no Concurso Internacional da ExpoQueijo Brasil 2023, realizado em Araxá, no Alto Paranaíba, em agosto.
Conforme levantamento divulgado neste domingo (3/12), das 22 medalhas de ouro que o estado conquistou em 50 categorias da disputa, os produtores da região alcançaram sete. Esses números representam 14% do total de primeiras colocações e 31% dos mineiros no topo.
Os dados foram levantados por técnicos da Secretaria de Estado de Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (Seapa) nos meses seguintes à competição, que avaliou 1,3 mil amostras de dez países.
Entre os medalhistas de Minas Gerais, considerando as primeiras, segundas e terceiras posições, 20% são das montanhas da Mantiqueira, o que corresponde a 14 entre 70 premiações.
As estatísticas surpreenderam os produtores da região, identificada de forma oficial há relativamente pouco tempo. Muitos deles estiveram no concurso pela primeira vez, como aconteceu com o casal Bianca Lamenha e Gustavo Pitta, do município de Itamonte. Eles levaram um ouro e um bronze na ExpoQueijo deste ano com a marca Velho Pitta.
Tão jovem quanto a caracterização da Mantiqueira como produtora de Queijo Artesanal é a produção da família, que saiu do Rio de Janeiro para realizar um sonho antigo de viver da terra no interior de Minas Gerais.
Desde que nasceu, o negócio conta com o apoio da Seapa e suas vinculadas, a Empresa de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural (Emater-MG), a Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (Epamig) e o Instituto Mineiro de Agropecuária (IMA), além de instituições parceiras.
“Logo antes da pandemia, a gente foi convidado pela prefeitura a receber o Ministério de Agricultura, a Emater-MG e a Epamig no sítio. Daí para a frente, a gente começou a querer mexer na queijaria, a melhorar a produção e a melhorar a técnica”, lembra Bianca.
“Eu vejo o Governo de Minas como um facilitador e incentivador dos produtores pequenos, médios e grandes, mas principalmente dos pequenos, através desses representantes. Eles conseguem estar mais presentes na propriedade, conversar, demonstrar o trabalho e motivar a gente a iniciar um projeto”, completa.
Vitórias
Antes de se aventurarem na disputa internacional, os produtores do Velho Pitta foram orientados a competir localmente. “A gente começou a participar de concursos neste ano, e o primeiro foi o municipal daqui de Itamonte. Depois vieram o Concurso Estadual dos Queijos Artesanais de Minas Gerais, o Prêmio Queijo Brasil e a ExpoQueijo, em Araxá”, relata a queijeira.
Mesmo assim, durante o anúncio do resultado do Concurso Internacional de Queijos Artesanais da ExpoQueijo Brasil 2023, Bianca e Gustavo mal podiam acreditar.
“Quando a gente escutou o nome Velho Pitta anunciado, veio uma emoção muito grande, a felicidade. A gente conseguiu conquistar um espaço no mercado, que é uma das coisas mais difíceis para o pequeno produtor”, explica a produtora.
Porém, medalhas e novos mercados não foram as únicas vitórias recentes da marca. “Neste ano, a gente conseguiu certificar a propriedade como livre de tuberculose e brucelose e isso foi uma grande conquista, porque é um trabalho feito pelo IMA, demorado, trabalhoso, muito específico e vigiado. Então, foi um ano extremamente gratificante para a gente em termos de reconhecimento”, comemora Bianca.
Queijo Artesanal da Mantiqueira
A região foi caracterizada como produtora de Queijo Artesanal da Mantiqueira de Minas em 2020, por meio de uma portaria do IMA.
A estimativa da Emater-MG é de que a produção anual seja de aproximadamente 830 toneladas, gerando mais de R$ 40 milhões por ano, que complementam ou são a principal fonte de renda de aproximadamente 150 famílias.
“Trata-se de um queijo cuja herança cultural remete ao modo de fazer do queijo Parmigiano Reggiano, tradicional em povos de origem italiana, conforme demonstra estudo realizado pela Emater-MG. As suas características são a cor amarelo-palha, a casca lisa e a massa compacta com pequenas olhaduras. O sabor forte e salgado fica mais acentuado quando maturado”, descreve o diretor de Agroindústria e Cooperativismo, Ranier Chaves Figueiredo.
No total, nove municípios compõem a região caracterizada: Aiuruoca, Baependi, Bocaina de Minas, Carvalhos, Itamonte, Itanhandu, Liberdade, Passa-Quatro e Pouso Alto. Desde que identificado, o produto da Mantiqueira obteve diversas vantagens competitivas nas prateleiras.
“A partir do momento em que foi caracterizado, o queijo passou a ter uma visibilidade maior, passou a participar de concursos e a ganhar muitos prêmios, foi uma grande diferença em questão de valorização do produto regional. Mas mais do que isso, com a criação da legislação, os produtos puderam se enquadrar em um sistema de habilitação sanitária, municipal, estadual ou federal, sendo comercializados e transportados com segurança”, diz o extensionista da Emater-MG Julio Cesar Fleming, que atua na região.
Além da caracterização
Não só de Queijo Artesanal da Mantiqueira de Minas vivem as queijarias regionais. Na ExpoQueijo Brasil 2023, foram condecorados com o ouro produtos à base de leite de cabra, búfala e ovelha.
É o caso da produção do casal Iracema Lopes da Silva e Julio Cesar Cunha de Sousa, do município de Itanhandu, que mantém a marca Di Capri, também estreante na disputa de Araxá.
Na propriedade da família, Iracema e Julio produzem desde o milho que serve de alimento às cabras até o produto final, o queijo. “Nós mandamos dois queijos e os dois vieram com medalhas. O Boursin Tradicional, que é o nosso carro-chefe, hoje está com três medalhas e também foi ouro em Araxá”, comenta Iracema.
“Quando vem um reconhecimento tão especial, em um concurso como esse, realizado por pessoas entendidas do assunto, pessoas que estão no meio e que estão lá aprovando o nosso queijo, é emocionante, ficamos sem palavras”, destaca.
Após as premiações, a meta do casal de produtores para um futuro próximo é conquistar o Selo Arte, que permite a comercialização do queijo em todo o território nacional, para os demais produtos da marca. Em um horizonte mais amplo, o plano de vida é que os filhos, atualmente crianças, sejam sucessores na atividade familiar.
ExpoQueijo
O Concurso Internacional de Queijos Artesanais da ExpoQueijo Brasil acontece desde 2021. De forma inédita no país, a curadoria em 2023 foi totalmente brasileira, feita pelo Instituto de Laticínios Cândido Tostes, vinculado à Epamig.
Mais de 200 jurados foram treinados pela instituição para avaliarem as 1,3 mil amostras concorrentes. Na edição, distribuíram-se 150 medalhas, das quais os mineiros conquistaram 70, sendo 22 primeiros lugares.
Em 2022, os produtores de queijo de Minas alcançaram 54 das 96 premiações na disputa mundial. Das vitórias do estado, 19 foram ouro. E, no primeiro ano da competição, foram contabilizados 111 medalhistas no total, com 63 mineiros ganhadores, dez deles na dianteira das categorias em que competiram.
O evento é realizado pela Bonare Eventos e pelo Governo do Estado, com diversos parceiros. Neste ano, estiveram entre os realizadores a Superintendência Federal de Agricultura de Minas Gerais do Ministério da Agricultura e Pecuária (Mapa), o Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (Sebrae), o Sistema Faemg, o Sistema Ocemg, a Prefeitura de Araxá, associações de produtores de queijos e instituições de fomento ao agronegócio.
